Jump Ring Earrings

This is the perfect intro class for the jewelry novice!  Jump rings (or “O” rings) are the most fundamental method of assembling jewelry.  I will show you how to open and close them properly as well as explaining how to shop for them on your own.  Take this knowledge and enjoy assembling various components to create your own custom jewelry designs.  If you enjoy working with them, you can create a plethora of chain-maille projects consisting of jumprings assembled in ancient patterns.

Discipline:  Chain-maille

The use of jump rings in decorative patterns derived from ancient practices.

Level:  Beginner (*)

This is a great skills class for the complete novice.

How do I sign up?

Class will be $25/person. E-mail jen@jewelryclasseswithjen.com or call Jen at (480)635-2402 to register any time from noon to 10pm.

What will I need to bring to class?

Project Materials: ($20 Kit for sale in class)

  • leverback earwires
  • (2) 12ga 8/32″ID ss twisted jump rings
  • (2) 16ga 16/32″ID ss jump rings
  • (6) 18ga 5/32″ID ss jump rings

Tools:   (please inquire about tool rental if you are not equipped)

Tools needed:

  • Flat-nose jewelry pliers
  • Chain-nose jewelry pliers
  • Bead mat (if you have one)
  • Magnifying glasses – most people don’t think they need them until they are faced with seeing the detail of jewelry close-up.
  • Covered water or other refreshing beverage
  • Snacks are always welcome as well. 🙂
