Band Ring with Bezel Setting

(registration instructions below)

Make a statement with this bezel set stone on a ring!  We will use low dome wire to create a band ring and then we will use a pre-fabricated oval bezel setting to secure a stone on top.  This project is a great way to experience the art of bezel setting without the need to craft your own cup.  Understanding how the setting process works will help to educate you to choose appropriate stones for making custom bezels.  This project also highlights the use of multiple solder joins in the same project.

Discipline:  Soldering

The use of an alloy (solder) to create a join using the heat of a torch.

Level:  Advanced (***)

This is a great skills class for mutiple solder joins.

Secondary Discipline:  Stone-setting

Capturing a stone with precious metals.

Level:  Intermediate (**)

The pre-fab calibrated cup and stone allow for the focus to be on how to capture (or set) the stone, but with the setting on a ring band, you will need to be careful of  how and where you apply pressure.
